IVANOVO, November 18 (RIA Novosti) - Two people were killed as a privately owned Mil Mi-2 Hoplite light multi-purpose helicopter crash landed in central Russia’s Ivanovo Region on Saturday evening, regional police reported.

“Two people, born in 1956 and 1974, died in the crash,” local police spokesman Vladislav Radostin said. "The helicopter crashed on takeoff."

Earlier the Emergencies Ministry reported that there were two people on board - the pilot and a passenger.

No people were hurt on the ground and no buildings were damaged in the incident, which occurred near the village of Oktyabrsky.

Eight people were injured earlier Saturday when a UTair Mil Mi-8 Hip transport helicopter carrying two crew and 20 passengers crashed on landing in west Siberia’s Omsk Region, the Interior Ministry reported.

The Mi-2 is a lightly armored transport helicopter. Several thousand of them were produced exclusively in Poland until their production completely ceased in 1985.
