A passenger jet with nearly 150 people onboard ran off the end of the runway after landing at the airport in Nizhny Novgorod in central Russia on Wednesday. No injuries were reported, an airport spokesman said.
The Boeing 737 operated by Orenburg Airlines arrived from the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Hurghada at 7 a.m.
“There were 147 passengers onboard, the evacuation went well and nobody was hurt,” the spokesman said.
He said all airport services had reacted immediately, and that runway surface friction, which affects landing distance, was within the norm.
“A special probe will look into the plane’s technical condition and interview crew members,” said Maya Ivanova, an aide to the Volga transport prosecutor.
