Forbes ranked the most famous people in Russian arts in the world. But the rating does not match the domestic ratings of Russian celebrities. The two people included in both are Timur Bekbambetov and Valery Gergiyev. Forbes ranked the participants by their income and popularity in the Google search engine.
Anna Netrebko tops the list. Her income is $3.75 million, Google index is 100. The most expensive opera voice (soprano) is best known in Germany.

An income of $2.33 million and Google index of 12 brought Dmitri Hvorostovsky to the fourth place. Baritone Dmitri Hvorostovsky competes with Anna Netrebko for the title of Russia’s highest paid opera singer. Dmitri Hvorostovsky, who mostly tours across America, is best known in the United States.
Actress Kseniya Rappoport rounds out the top five. Income: $1.1 million, Google index: 14. The actress first appeared on foreign silver screens five years ago in Giuseppe Tornatore’s La Sconosciuta (The Unknown Woman). In 2009, she hosted the opening ceremony for the Venice Film Festival.
Musician and conductor Yuri Bashmet comes in sixth. Income: $1.3 million, Google index: 6.5. In 2008, his chamber orchestra Moscow Soloists received Grammy Award. It was the first Russian orchestra to win the award in its 50-year-old history.
Forbes also included violinist Gidon Kremer in the rating who graduated from the Moscow Conservatory but was born in Riga. He has taken the seventh place. Income: $1 million, Google index: 1.4. Kremer is best known in Germany where his orchestra plays more often than anywhere else.
