Police of the District of Columbia and neighboring states Maryland and Virginia are seeking for a van, stolen from U-Haul truck renting company in the wake of an investigation of a terror threat linked to the 10th anniversary of September, 11 on Sunday.

Police of the District of Columbia and neighboring states Maryland and Virginia are seeking for a van, stolen from U-Haul truck renting company in the wake of an investigation of a terror threat linked to the 10th anniversary of September, 11 on Sunday.

A U-Haul spokeswoman Joanne Fried said police had recovered one of the two white Ford Econoline vans stolen on Friday from the company locations in Prince George's County in Maryland.

The thefts triggered police heightened checks because of the information that terrorists might detonate a car bomb. Police did not officially link the thefts with a terror threat, but said were taking extra precautions.

Law enforcement authorities in New York and Washington are on high alert against what was called by the authorities a "credible but unconfirmed" terror threat to the United States a decade after 9/11 terrorist attacks, which killed 3,000 people.
