Russian President Dmitry Medvedev on Tuesday appointed new envoys to the country's Central, Northwestern and Urals federal districts, the Kremlin said.

Medvedev appointed Oleg Govorun, chief of the Presidential Domestic Policy Directorate, his new envoy to the Central Federal District.

In late August, the previous envoy to this district, Georgy Poltavchenko, was appointed governor of St. Petersburg, replacing Valentina Matviyenko.

On Tuesday, Medvedev replaced his envoy to the Northwestern Federal District, Ilya Klebanov, who served in the post for eight years. The president replaced him with his fellow student Nikolai Vinnichenko, who was serving as presidential envoy to the Urals Federal District.

Former Tuymen Mayor Yevgeny Kuivashev was appointed presidential envoy to the Urals Federal District, replacing the vacancy created by Vinnichenko's reassignment.
