The facility belongs to the Defense Ministry's missile and artillery directorate and is tasked mainly with weapons disposal.
At around 11:10 p.m. Moscow time [19:10 GMT] on Thursday shells began to explode in an artillery depot near the village of Pugachevo in Volga region's Republic of Udmurtia. The facility belongs to the Defense Ministry's missile and artillery directorate and is tasked mainly with weapons disposal.
A total of 28 people were injured, eight of whom were hospitalized. Almost 10,000 people were evacuated overnight from the town of Agryz in the neighboring Republic of Tatarstan overnight, as the area was declared to be within the detonation wave radius.
