Russian President Dmitry Medvedev will meet with Jordanian King Abdullah II on Thursday to discuss the wave of protests that has swept the Middle East and North Africa in the past few months, the Kremlin press service said on Wednesday.

Jordan itself suffered from mass protests in late January, calling for the government to resign over high inflation and unemployment rates. Tensions were defused as a result of government reshuffles.

The sides will also talk about the long-standing Palestinian-Israeli crisis.

Massive protests in the Middle East and North Africa have already ousted regimes in Egypt and Tunisia. Demonstrations are continuing in Yemen and Syria.

Libyan protests have developed into armed confrontation between government forces and rebels.

Anti-government protests earlier took place in Algeria, Iraq, Jordan, Morocco and Oman.
