An anti-terrorism court in Pakistan has issued an arrest warrant for ex-President Pervez Musharraf in the 2007 murder of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, Hindustan Times reported on Saturday.

An anti-terrorism court in Pakistan has issued an arrest warrant for ex-President Pervez Musharraf in the 2007 murder of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, Hindustan Times reported on Saturday.

The court said Musharraf had failed to ensure security of Bhutto, who was killed in December 2007 during a campaign rally in the city of Rawalpindi. The opposition leader was shot before a suicide bomber exploded his device, killing dozens of other people.

The judge has ordered Musharraf, who currently resides in London, to appear before the court on February 19. However, a spokesman for Musharraf said the ex-president will not comply with the request.

Earlier this week, Pakistan's Federal Investigation Agency included Musharraf in the list of suspects in the murder upon a testimony given by Saud Aziz, a former police chief of Rawalpindi.

Aziz was arrested last year along with his former deputy Khurram Shahzad for failing to ensure the ex-premier's security.

The former city police chief claimed Musharraf ordered him to change Benazir's security detail and have the murder scene cleaned up immediately after the crime, DawnNews said.

A report by a UN commission in April blamed Pakistan's authorities for failing to take measures to protect Bhutto and conduct a thorough investigation into her murder.
