Fighter planes started flying low over Cairo on Sunday, causing panic among local citizens in the protest-hit Arab state.
Two planes flew four times over the city. The sound reminded of a shell burst, the citizens said.
They failed to confirm however if the planes were sent by the Egyptian air force in a move to intimidate protesters.
Earlier only helicopters flew over Cairo, which has been engulfed by protest actions for a sixth day.
