The Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office announced on Thursday it was bringing more charges against former prime minister and current opposition leader Yulia Tymoshenko.

Tymoshenko is charged with abuse of power while purchasing 1,000 "overpriced" Opel Combo minivans. The vehicles were said to be for the Health Ministry.

Under the first set of charges, the ex-prime minister is accused of illegally diverting $425 million meant for environmental projects into pension funds.

"Despite the fact that Opel Combo cost about $15,000, the former government purchased them for 20% more," prosecutors said. They also alleged that Tymoshenko had used the minivans in her presidential election campaign.

The ex-premier has rejected all the allegations against her, saying she is being targeted for standing up to Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych.
