Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin on Friday called on the country's small- and middle-sized businesses to enter state commissions designed to tackle administrative bureaucracy.

"I invite representatives of business associations to enter the commission on administration reforms as well as the commission for introduction of information technologies - in a word, [to join] these bodies which are directly engaged in improving the quality of state administration and removing bureaucratic barriers," Putin said at a meeting with businessmen at his residence outside Moscow.

The prime minister said he hopes that small- and mid-sized businesses would help the government implement key state programs.

"I have in view the modernization of single-industry cities, the development of the pharmaceutical sphere and medical industry, the production of component parts for the automobile industry, eco-tourism, and services aimed at increasing energy efficiency," Putin said.
