Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to inform United Nations Secretary General Ban-ki Moon on Israeli plan to withdraw from the northern sector of the disputed village of Ghajar along the Lebanese border, Israeli media said.

The international border between Israel and Lebanon runs through the middle of the village of Ghajar. Residents of the village have Israeli citizenship and work in Israel but say that they are Syrian. The village lays on the territory seized Syria in a 1967 war. Residents say they do not want to be controlled by Lebanon. Israel has occupied all of Ghajar since a 2006 war with Hezbollah.

Netanyahu is expected to meet with Ban at the UN headquarters in New York on Monday and present the plan, which has been discussed with UN peacekeeping forces in Lebanon, there.

In the four years since the Israeli-Hezbollah war in 2006, northern Israel has seen several rocket attacks by Lebanese-based terrorist organizations, but there have been no cases of confrontation between the regular army forces of both countries.
