Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad traveled on Thursday to Lebanon's Israeli border and pledged that Iran would always support Arabs in their confrontation with Israel.

"The people of Iran will remain by your side, and all the people in this region," Ahmadinejad said during a meeting in the southern Lebanese town of Bint Jbeil, a Hezbollah stronghold that suffered much violence during the 2006 Israel-Hezbollah war in Lebanon.

"The Zionists will not last long," Ahmadinejad, who regularly decries Israel, said. "Bring defeat to the Zionists."

"Resistance is the key to the Lebanese nations and all the nations in the region," he added. "The people of Lebanon, of all religions and all walks of life, have found the secret to victory."

Ahmadinejad also called for Palestine to be "forcefully freed" and for the Zionists to go "back to where they came from."

After Bint Jbeil, the Iranian president headed to the village of Qana, the site of severe Israeli bombings in 1996 and 2006.

Ahmadinejad underlined that Qana is proof of the resistance, patience and faith of the Lebanese people.

The Iranian president arrived in Lebanon on Wednesday for a two-day visit to discuss bilateral relations.
