A new monument to former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev, former U.S. President George Bush Senior and former German Chancellor Helmut Kohl was unveiled on Wednesday in Berlin.
The monument, near where Checkpoint Charlie used to stand, was unveiled by former West German Chancellor Helmut Schmidt.
"All of three you deserve the thanks of our people," Schmidt said. "Without Gorbachev's courage, Bush's prudence and Kohl's determination, unification would not have been possible."
The monument consists of three bronze busts of the former world leaders, placed on meter-high plinths in front of the headquarters of Axel Springer publishing house.
The monument was unveiled ahead of the celebrations of the 20th anniversary of the German unification, due on October 3.
