A close ally of Ukrainian opposition leader Yulia Tymoshenko has been called in for questioning by the SBU, Ukraine's security service, her party said on Monday.

Oleksandr Turchynov, deputy chair of the Batkivshchyna party, part of the Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc, said he didn't know why he had been called in.

Turchynov has previously been questioned by the SBU in connection with energy supply company RosUkrEnergo's dispute with Ukraine's state-run gas company Naftogaz.

The Stockholm Arbitration Tribunal ruled on June 8 that Naftogaz owes its former gas supply intermediary, Swiss-registered RosUkrEnergo, 11 billion cubic meters of gas, which the trader says was illegally confiscated in January 2009, as well as fines of 1.1 billion cubic meters.

Turchynov said he is ready for any developments, including turning from a witness into a suspect.

Tymoshenko has called for a full probe into the Stockholm court's ruling.
