Armored Jaguar and handcrafted Bentley unveiled in Moscow

The world’s leading car manufacturers debuted new models in Moscow on August 25, the opening day of the Moscow International Motor Show. During this year’s event, visitors will get a look at eight new global models, seven new European models and 62 new Russian models of various classes.

The world’s leading car manufacturers debuted new models in Moscow on August 25, the opening day of the Moscow International Motor Show. During this year’s event, visitors will get a look at eight new global models, seven new European models and 62 new Russian models of various classes.

Jaguar unveiled its armored XJ Sentinel, with a price tag of 19 million rubles. The manufacturer guarantees that the armor will protect the driver and passengers from even a grenade exploding beneath the car. Other technical features of the car have been improved as well. The Jaguar XJ Sentinel can go zero to a hundred kilometers per hour in 9.7 seconds. The car comes equipped with a reinforced suspension to account for its increased weight and solid 19-inch wheel disks. The company is also featuring a less expensive model, the Jaguar XJ, whose price starts at 3,655,000 rubles. It was first released on the Russian market last spring.

Another car giant, Porsche, has unveiled its 911 GT2 RS. The top model has an added 90 horsepower (for 620 horsepower in total) and is now 70 kilograms lighter. Porsche will release a total of just 500 cars of this model.

Bentley is featuring its Mulsanne handcrafted limousine at the auto show.  The company’s representatives say that it takes more than two months to assemble just one car. The limo has a 505 hp, 6.75-litre V8 engine and can reach speeds of 296 km/h.

The 2008 Moscow International Motor Show outnumbered the famous Detroit and Geneva auto shows, drawing approximately 1.6 million visitors. Some 700,000 people visited the 2010 Detroit Auto Show and the Geneva Motor Show, held last spring. The show’s organizers believe that the Moscow International Motor Show will be one of the world’s most popular.
