King Fahd of Saudi Arabian King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz has ordered to send two field hospitals to Pakistan severely affected by floods, Saudi Arabian media said.

At least 1,600 people have died during the floods in Pakistan with some 20 million affected by the disaster. The floods, caused by the heavy monsoon rains, were the most severe in 80 years. Thousands of houses were destroyed and entire villages were washed out.

Saudi Arabian Health Minister Dr. Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al-Rabiah said both hospitals are provided with qualified medical personnel and fully equipped with modern technologies and medications needed to work in conditions of emergency.

Last week Russia's Emergencies Ministry sent a plane with 36 tons of humanitarian aid to Pakistan including tents, blankets, diesel generators and canned meat.

On Wednesday Russian President Dmitry Medvedev at the meeting in the southern Russian city of Sochi expressed condolences to his Pakistani counterpart Asif Ali Zardari following the deadly floods in the north of the country.

The floods, caused by the heavy monsoon rains, were the most severe in 80 years. Thousands of houses were destroyed in the country and entire villages were washed out.

"This is a severe disaster which caused many deaths and unfortunately brought great damage. We mourn with you and are ready to provide assistance to the Pakistani people," Medvedev said.
