At least one person was killed and several injured after a passenger bus collided with a car early on Monday on a highway in Russia's southern Krasnodar Region, a local emergencies ministry spokesman said.
"At about 0:30 a.m. Monday [9.30 p.m. Sunday] a Neoplan bus collided with a Land Rover. One man, who was in the off-roader, died. The number of injured in the accident is being verified," the spokesman said.
According to statistics, 30,000 people lose their lives in traffic accidents every year in Russia due to the poor state of highway networks and reckless driving.
The Russian government adopted a law last week completely banning alcohol for drivers to increase safety on the country's roads.
