Russian President Dmitry Medvedev arrived in Turkmenistan on Monday to hold talks on cooperation in the fuel and energy sphere with his counterpart President Gurbaguly Berdymukhamedov.

The two presidents will discuss a number of international issues, including the situation in Afghanistan, international terrorism, illegal drug trafficking, transnational organized crime, as well as cooperation within the framework of the Caspian-5.

One of the key discussions between Moscow and Ashgabat will be bilateral cooperation in the trade and economic sphere. Russia is one of Turkmenistan's leading trade partners.

During the presidential visit, Medvedev and Berdymukhamedov will open a new building at the Pushkin School, the only Russian-language school in Turkmenistan, which was opened in 2002.
