ULYANOVSK, November 14 (RIA Novosti) - Two service personnel are still missing and 44 are injured following a series of explosions on Friday night at a weapons depot in the Russian city of Ulyanovsk, the Defense Ministry said.
A ministry spokesman told RIA Novosti on Saturday that the missing personnel are probably dead.
The ministry said the explosions are believed to have occurred while ammunition was being destroyed at the navy depot. Twenty firefighting crews were called in to fight the ensuing blaze, which was put out during the night.
Ulyanovsk Region Governor Sergei Morozov said that six unexploded artillery shells have been found in the vicinity of the depot, and that dangerous weaponry is likely to be moved to another location.
