BERLIN, October 7 (RIA Novosti) - German police officers detained in Berlin on Wednesday three people suspected of plotting terrorist attacks in Russia, the local prosecutor general's office said.

The detained are Islamic radicals aged 28, 30 and 36 years. Their nationalities have not been disclosed.

The detained were apprehended in the course of a special operation that began on early Wednesday. Berlin police searched 26 apartments in a series of raids targeting a group of 15 suspected militants in the city's Neukolln and Kreuzberg districts.

The operation began after investigators received information on planned attacks in Russia.

A computer, memory cards and clothing were confiscated during the raids and will be later studied and used as evidence.

The German capital has been on high alert since Islamist groups posted threatening videos on the internet ahead of the recent elections. The videos warned voters against voting for leaders who would support U.S.-led military operations in Afghanistan.

Officials earlier said there was no connection between today's raids and the videos.
