RIGA, September 3 (RIA Novosti) - Riga and Moscow mayors Nil Ushakov and Yury Luzhkov will on Thursday sign a program of cooperation between the Latvian and Russian capitals for 2009-2011, the Riga legislature said.
Ushakov took office in July, and was the first Russian in Latvia's history to take the post. He received an invitation to Moscow soon after his election.
The Riga Duma said that during his two-day visit, Ushakov will also meet with the Russian transportation minister, Igor Levitin, who co-chairs the Russian-Latvian intergovernmental commission, as well as other officials.
The Riga mayor will visit a number of Moscow enterprises.
