MOSCOW, August 20 (RIA Novosti) - A 45-year-old plumber in west-central Germany attacked his neighbors' houses with grenades over unpaid debts, national media reported on Thursday.
Two people, a 32-year-old man and his wife, were injured by shattered glass as a result of the attack, which took place in the town of Viernheim, Hesse state.
After setting off the blasts, Juergen K barricaded himself in his flat and phoned the Bild newspaper's editorial office. The incident took place on Wednesday morning, but was reported on Thursday.
The man told journalists some of his clients, including a neighbor, had not paid for his work.
"I was not paid one cent of 5.000 euros due for my work," he said.
Following the call, police cordoned off the area and evacuated some 100 people from nearby houses, media said.
The plumber's neighbors told journalists he was an "amusing guy," who often set off blasts in his garden and had already been in trouble with police before the incident.
