Michael Jackson's former wife, Debbie Rowe, has given up custody rights over their two children for a reported $4 million, the New York Post quoted a family source as saying.

MOSCOW, July 14 (RIA Novosti) - Michael Jackson's former wife, Debbie Rowe, has given up custody rights over their two children for a reported $4 million, the New York Post quoted a family source as saying.

Rowe, who was married to Jackson from 1996-1999 and gave birth to the couple's two children, had indicated that she was ready to seek custody for Prince Michael I, 12, and Paris, 11, following the star's death on June 25 from a suspected cardiac arrest.

The children, along with Jackson's third child Blanket, are all living with the singer's mother Katherine, who has been given temporary custody.

"This takes away any rights she has to challenge custody at any given time. If something happens to Katherine, [Rowe] can't challenge," the paper quoted the unnamed source as saying.

Rowe reportedly gave up her rights for a one-off payment of $8 million and $900,000 in annual alimony in 1999, and received a further lump sum of $4 million in 2001 after Jackson was accused of child abuse.
