MOSCOW, April 25 (RIA Novosti) - Irina Belenkaya's lawyer told Vesti FM radio on Saturday that his client was ready to sign a custody deal with her French ex-husband despite comments she is reported to have made to a Russian TV station.

Belenkaya, who is currently in a Hungarian jail for kidnapping her 3-year-old daughter Elise Andre, reportedly told the Vesti-24 TV channel that she was unhappy with an agreement made on her behalf by her lawyer giving both parents equal access.

"I do not think the decision is acceptable. I don't think that it will be good for Elise to spend half the year in one country and half in another," Belenkaya was cited as saying.

However, her lawyer Anatoly Kucherena, who negotiated the deal with 51-year-old Jean-Michel Andre in Avignon, France on Friday, said "On the eve of the three-hour negotiations, she [Belenkaya] said that she would not give interviews to anyone."

"We need to determine a plan for the international agreement to avoid any future conflict arising with Elise's parents. Yesterday's negotiations demonstrated that there is a chance for agreement, to remove the problems which have existed between Irina and Andre," the prominent lawyer said.

Belenakaya is in custody in Hungary awaiting extradition to France for snatching her daughter and organizing an attack on her ex-husband last month.

The couple has been embroiled in a bitter custody battle resulting in Elise being "kidnapped" back and forth three times in the past two years. Andre was awarded custody by a French court after their divorce in 2007.

Elise is currently with her father in France.
