BAKU, December 13 (RIA Novosti) - The death toll in an apartment block explosion in Azerbaijan's capital, Baku, on Saturday has risen to three people, the country's Interior Ministry said.
Two bodies have been recovered from the rubble, and rescuers are working to retrieve the body of the third victim, the ministry said in a statement.
The blast destroyed the staircase for the top three floors of the five-story house, Novosti-Azerbaijan agency reported. Six survivors have been hospitalized with injuries and burns.
"The explosion is believed to have been caused by a household gas leak," the ministry said.
