PARIS, December 10 (RIA Novosti) - Youths in the Greek capital Athens, hit by riots since the shooting by police of a teenager on Saturday, attacked Russian journalists while they were filming, an NTV correspondent said Wednesday.

"We arrived in Athens last night and immediately set off to film. We approached the fence of a technical college, where they were sitting, burning fires and raging. We just pointed our camera at them... and they tried to drag us through the fence," NTV Paris bureau correspondent Vadim Glusker said.

The young people seized the camera from the reporters. They said they would return it but would destroy the cassette inside it.

"It was surprising that there were no police anywhere at night. We were all alone on an empty street with this gang," Glusker said. "Today we went there with a police escort, but all the same a stone was thrown at the operator, and I got an egg chucked in my face."

According to the Russian Ambassador to Greece Andrei Vdovin, the Russian embassy has been informed of the attack and is taking appropriate measures.

Greece's worst protests in decades have swept through more than 10 cities following the killing of 15-year-old Alexandros Grigoropoulos, leaving a trail of destruction as teenagers looted shops and set fire to hundreds of cars, banks and businesses.

According to the official report, a police officer fired warning shots at a group of teenagers who attacked their police car, and the boy was accidentally shot in the chest. The officer, who fired the shots, and his partner have been arrested over the killing.
