TEHRAN, July 18 (RIA Novosti) - Iranian security council chief Saeed Jalili said on Friday he was hoping for constructive talks on the Islamic Republic's nuclear program with EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana in Geneva on July 19.

"If a positive approach is taken, and the sides do not repeat their past mistakes, the talks are certain to be constructive," Jalili said.

"We have studied a package of incentives from the Iran Six, while Iran in turn has made its own proposals," he added.

Solana handed Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki a package of new incentives from the Iran Six - China, France, Russia, the United States, Germany and Britain - on June 14. The proposals offer political, security and trade benefits to Iran in exchange for suspending its nuclear program.

However, the six world powers have demanded that Iran impose a moratorium on uranium enrichment prior to the talks on the issue.

Iran reiterated in early July that it had no plans to drop its nuclear enrichment program.

Iran is currently under three sets of relatively mild UN Security Council sanctions for defying demands to halt uranium enrichment, which it says it needs purely for electricity generation. It has denied accusations that it is trying to develop a nuclear weapon.
