WASHINGTON, June 26 (RIA Novosti) - A 23 year-old hairdresser from the U.S. state of Virginia has sold the last bridesmaid spot at her wedding on eBay to help pay for the ceremony, the auction website said Thursday.
Kelly Gray, 23, received 59 bids, with the winning one coming in at $5,700.
The girl had long dreamed of being a bride, but she and her fiance, Karl Gau, could not afford the ceremony - the average U.S. wedding costs $26,000.
Though they decided to cut costs by using an iPod instead of a DJ and baking their own wedding cake, they could not afford even the $7,000 wedding they had planned.
The winner was a representative for Dr Pepper Snapple Group, who said the drinks company would donate $10,000 for the wedding and supply all the beverages.
