WASHINGTON, March 16 (RIA Novosti) - U.S. Endeavour space shuttle astronauts completed their second spacewalk to attach a pair of arms to a Canadian-built robot designed for maintenance of the international space station (ISS), NASA said Sunday.
Mission specialists Richard Linnehan and Michael Foreman completed their spacewalk in a little over seven hours at 2:57 a.m. EDT (06:57 GMT) on Sunday. The current shuttle mission STS-123 is the longest to the ISS and will involve a record five spacewalks.
The Canadian-built robot, Dextre, is the final element of the station's Mobile Servicing System and is expected to become operational after a third spacewalk on Monday.
