MADRID, November 16 (RIA Novosti) - Climate changes caused by mankind's economic activities could result in around a third of all the Earth's animals dying out, a document adopted on Friday at a climate change forum in Spain said.

"The document, containing 20 pages, states that by the end of the century, the average temperature on the planet could rise by from 1.8 to 4 degrees [Celsius], which would consequently lead to the death of about a third of all animals," Spain's national public radio service RNE said.

The RNE said the document was intended to encourage world governments to undertake more serious commitments on the fight against global warming at a meeting due in Indonesia in December.

The current conference, underway in Valencia under the UN aegis, is being attended by representatives of 150 countries, including Russia. The conference runs until Saturday.
