MOSCOW, October 4 (RIA Novosti) - A 68-kg (150 pounds) drug haul was found by customs officers hidden in Tajik kitchen furniture, imported to the Orel Region in Central Russia, a source in the Russian Customs Service said Thursday.

The local police received a tip-off that a railway truck from Tajikistan containing a large batch of heroin was due to arrive in Orel.

The container was carefully searched, but no traces of drugs were found, and it was only when a special sniffer dog was bought in that police were able to identify the packing around the Tajik-made kitchen furniture as suspicious.

During an x-ray of the furniture, the heroin was clearly visible stuffed in the walls of the factory made recesses.

An investigation into the case have been launched with the offenders facing up to seven years in prison if found guilty.
