The European Union said Wednesday it was concerned by Russia's refusal to cooperate with British authorities over London's extradition request for Andrei Lugovoi, the key suspect in the Alexander Litvinenko murder case.
BRUSSELS, July 18 (RIA Novosti) - The European Union said Wednesday it was concerned by Russia's refusal to cooperate with British authorities over London's extradition request for Andrei Lugovoi, the key suspect in the Alexander Litvinenko murder case.

"The EU expresses its disappointment at Russia's failure to cooperate constructively with U.K. authorities," EU president holder Portugal said in a statement.

The EU stressed the importance of "urgent and constructive cooperation by the Russian Federation on this issue."

The U.K. decided to expel four Russian diplomats and suspend visa facilitation talks with Moscow after Russia refused to extradite Lugovoi, citing Russia's Constitution that does not permit the extradition of Russian nationals.
