The ministerial visit by Egypt's Ahmed Ali Aboul Gheit, and Jordan's Abdelelah Al-Khatib was expected to take place July 12, but Egyptian media reported Tuesday that it was postponed on Israel's request.
"Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert will meet with Egyptian and Jordanian emissaries, who will represent the Arab League, during their visit scheduled for July 25," Israel's government press service said.
The initiative approved by the Arab League at a March summit in Riyadh proposes the normalization of relations between Arab countries and Israel in exchange for Israel's withdrawal from occupied Palestinian territories to the 1967 borders, and a solution to the Palestinian refugee crisis based on UN resolutions.
Israel has said the demands are unacceptable, but has reacted positively to the initiative, viewing it as a possibility for dialogue with moderate Arab regimes.
