KIEV, April 24 (RIA Novosti) - Border guards in Kharkov stopped four cars with eight Ukrainians inside late Monday, saying there were bullet holes in one of the cars, a Ukrainian border control spokesman said Tuesday.

"A check of one of the cars revealed that it had bullet holes in it, and it was established that one of those arrested was wounded," Ukraine's border control service said, adding that Russian counterparts had confirmed the information.

The Ukrainian border control officers said the arrestees had "attempted to cross the border outside the checkpoint."

The wounded Ukrainian national has already been hospitalized and is in satisfactory condition. Ukrainian border guards said the other arrestees were being interrogated.

The Russian border control service has not yet provided an official comment.
