One Russian citizen killed, one wounded in Algeria blast

One Russian citizen was killed and another injured in a bomb explosion in Algeria, Russia's foreign ministry said Sunday.
MOSCOW, March 4 (RIA Novosti) - One Russian citizen was killed and another injured in a bomb explosion in Algeria, Russia's foreign ministry said Sunday.

"On March 3, at 07:30 p.m. Moscow time (04:30 p.m. GMT), 130 kilometers (80.7 miles) southwest of the Algerian capital, upon return to their camp from the place of work to build a gas pipeline, the cars with 21 specialists of Stroitransgaz accompanied by Algerian gendarmes, were hit by two road bombs," the ministry's information and press department said.

The blasts killed a Russian citizen, A. Derevyakin, and also three Algerians, while one Russian and two Ukrainian nationals were injured, the information and press department said

The injured were taken to the central military hospital in the Algerian capital where they are receiving all necessary medical treatment. The other Russian specialists have not suffered, the information and press department said.

Russia's foreign ministry expressed its condolences to the relatives of the Russian citizen killed in the bomb explosion, the information and press department said.
