MOSCOW, August 19 (RIA Novosti) - A scheduled meeting of the Joint Control Commission (JCC) for the Georgian-South Ossetian conflict resolution did not bring any positive results, the Russian cochairman of the JCC said Saturday.

Yury Popov, the Russian Foreign Ministry's ambassador at large, said the beginning of the activities of a joint working group for the conflict resolution plan became a stumbling bloc during the talks.

"Georgia has practically disavowed the decisions adopted by the JCC during three previous meetings to form a working group on preparation of a unified conflict resolution program," Popov said.

The JCC, comprising Georgia, South Ossetia and Russia, was formed to find a solution to the conflict between Georgia and self proclaimed republic of South Ossetia.

The Russian diplomat said the parties agreed to hold the next meeting of the commission on September 5-6 in Vladikavkaz in North Ossetia.

South Ossetia and Abkhazia declared independence from Georgia following the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, bringing bloody conflicts to the region. Russia mediated ceasefire agreements between the sides, and Russian peacekeepers have been deployed in the conflict zones ever since.
