KIEV, June 16 (RIA Novosti) - The political council of pro-presidential bloc Our Ukraine has given no consent to coalition talks with the pro-Russian Party of Regions, a bloc spokesperson said Friday.
"The political council made no decision and discussed the situation around the formation of the coalition," Tatyana Mokridi said.
Our Ukraine is one of three movements - the others are the Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc and the Socialist Party - that were thought to have been on the verge of forming a parliamentary coalition that would have put an end to the political wrangling that followed the March 26 elections.
However, the talks broke down, which prompted members to discuss a coalition with the Party of Regions, led by Viktor Yanukovych, incumbent President Viktor Yushchenko's rival in the contentious 2004 presidential race that sparked the "orange revolution."
Yulia Tymoshenko, Yushchenko's first prime minister before he replaced her with Yuriy Yekhanurov after eight months, said her movement would go into opposition if Our Ukraine and the Party of Regions formed a coalition.
