MOSCOW, April 13 (RIA Novosti) - The Moscow Arbitration Court dismissed Thursday a $6.3 million claim filed by the owners of Transvaal Park against a major Russian insurance company.
Rosno, which insured the water park that collapsed two years ago killing 28 people and injuring more than 100, said it was not obliged to cover risks related to building design under its agreement with Transvaal and that it did not consider design flaws an insurance-related event.
A criminal case was launched against Nodar Kancheli, the architect who designed Transvaal Park and the Basmanny market, which also collapsed in February 2006 killing 64 people.
Meanwhile, insurance company Rosgosstrakh, which insured Transvaal Park's equipment, said it had not yet made a decision on payments. The park's owners filed a $318,000 claim against the firm.
