GENEVA, March 19 (RIA Novosti) - Russia and Switzerland are about to sign an agreement that will mutually relax their visa regulations, the Russian ambassador told a Swiss newspaper Sunday.
Dmitri Cherkashin told Sonntagsblick that the agreement provided for measures to reduce red tape in issuing visas and to make them cheaper. The ultimate goal is to scrap visas altogether, he said.
Cherkashin expressed hope that the agreement would help the sides overcome their mutual mistrust, hanging over from the Cold War era.
This year marks 60 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Switzerland.
