GROZNY, March 4 (RIA Novosti) - The lower house of the Chechen parliament unanimously approved Ramzan Kadyrov's candidacy for the post of the republic's prime minister Saturday.

On Thursday, President of Chechnya Alu Alkhanov officially submitted to the local legislature the name of Kadyrov, 29, as a candidate for the vacant post of prime minister. Kadyrov, the son of the late president Akhmad Kadyrov, has served as acting premier since Sergei Abramov was injured in a car accident in November last year and filed resignation February 28.

After the voting Kadyrov asked parliamentarians and government members to help him restore the republic.

"We are one team and our common goal is to revive the Chechen Republic and the name of Chechens, which was blackened by a group of traitors," Kadyrov said.

He added that he was not planning any serious changes in the Chechen government at the moment.

President Alkhanov signed a decree appointing Kadyrov prime minister.
