TEHRAN, February 11 (RIA Novosti) - Iran will continue talks to uphold its right to peaceful nuclear energy, the country's foreign minister said Saturday. "The West is using all its strength to deprive the Islamic Republic of its legal rights in the nuclear sphere, but we will stand our ground," Manuchehr Motaki said commenting on a resolution recently adopted by the International Atomic Energy Agency board of governors.

"Iran has made all possible steps to create confidence in its nuclear activity, which now contains no unclear points," Motaki said.

On February 4, the IAEA decided to inform the UN Security Council about Iran's nuclear programs. The IAEA resolution also urged Iran to resume its moratorium on nuclear fuel research, to ratify an additional protocol to its agreement with the IAEA, and to allow the agency to clarify all aspects of its past nuclear activities. Twenty-seven UN Security Council members voted for the resolution, while three states voted against, with five abstentions.

The Iranian president then ruled to suspend the implementation of the NPT additional protocol, as well as resume work to create nuclear fuel for Iran's peaceful needs.
