Putin urges prosecutors to rid of loopholes in business law

MOSCOW, February 3 (RIA Novosti) - President Vladimir Putin instructed prosecutors Friday to eliminate loopholes in legislation on violations of business rights.

Speaking at an extended session of the top officials of the Prosecutor General's Office, Putin said: "Fair competition must not be replaced with attempts of criminal takeovers, and therefore ways must be considered to eliminate the loopholes and improve legislation in this field."

Prosecutors should react promptly to violations of businessmen's rights, on unbiased and objective grounds, the president said.

"Prosecutors and other law-enforcement bodies should not interfere with civil lawsuits between commercial structures, as it is up to courts to make decisions in an open process," Putin said.

Honest entrepreneurship and property rights should be well protected by the law, its application and court rulings, Putin said.
