LONDON, January 30 (RIA Novosti) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov arrived in London Monday for a two-day international conference on Afghanistan, scheduled to open Tuesday.
The conference, first held in Bonn in 2001, will be presided over by UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, British Prime Minister Tony Blair and Afghan President Hamid Karzai. Government officials from 70 countries are also expected to participate.
Issues that will dominate meetings on the sidelines of the conference include Iran's nuclear program and settlement efforts in the Middle East and Kosovo.
