KIEV, January 28 (RIA Novosti) - Viktor Yanukovych, leader of Ukraine's Party of Regions and former presidential candidate, said Saturday that all political forces in the country should cooperate in finding a solution to the country's political crisis.
Yanukovych, speaking at a party conference in Donetsk, eastern Ukraine, said the Party of Regions intended to initiate a national roundtable meeting to which representatives of all political parties and branches of power would be invited.
"Negotiations in such a format should help to calm the population and define ways of ending the crisis, and of ensuring honest elections," he said.
Reforms should occur "in the context of constitutional reforms," Yanukovych said.
On Friday the Party of Regions refused to sign a memorandum proposed by President Viktor Yushchenko on fair elections, the chief organizer of the party's election campaign said.
