KIEV, January 10 (RIA Novosti) - Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko said Tuesday that he would not put pressure on parliament, following its dismissal of the government, and would act only in a constitutional way.

The Ukrainian parliament, the Supreme Rada, was able to dismiss the government and appoint a new cabinet due to amendments to the Ukrainian Constitution that came into force on January 1, 2006.

"In relation to today's decision by the Supreme Rada, the president will only act in accordance with the constitution, for the sake of stability in Ukraine, and will not put pressure on the parliament," the president said.

Yushchenko is currently in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, where he will attend the presidential inauguration ceremony of Nursultan Nazarbayev.
