* Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov said his ministry would submit four draft bills on military service to the government in early 2006

* Commander of the Russian Navy Admiral Vladimir Masorin said the lease terms and the status of the Russian base in Sevastopol, Ukraine, would not be revised

* Commander of the Russian Airborne Troops Alexander Kolmakov said Russian paratroopers would participate in three joint exercises with foreign countries in 2006

* An official from the Economic Development and Trade Ministry said the Defense Ministry would gradually allocate 30 billion rubles ($1 billion) in 2006-2007 for housing for military personnel in the five most expensive Russian regions
