TBILISI, December 7 (RIA Novosti) - The Georgian state minister for separatist conflicts said Wednesday that talks with the Abkhazian authorities on the European Commission's economic revival program in the conflict zone had been successful.

"A decision was made to launch the economic revival program in January 2006," Georgy Khaindrava said following the first session of the program's organizing committee in Abkhazia's capital Sukhumi on December 6.

He said the program included the restoration of agricultural infrastructure, schools and hospitals.

"This is an important project that was designed a long time ago, but we were unable to implement it for objective reasons," he said.

The organizing committee comprises UN Secretary General's Special Representative to Georgia Heidi Tagliavini, and officials from Abkhazia and Georgia, the European Commission, the UN Development Program, and others.
