MOSCOW, December 3 (RIA Novosti) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has discussed activities of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Russia at a meeting with Russian Security Council members, presidential press secretary Alexei Gromov said Saturday.

Domestic and foreign policy issues were also discussed at the meeting, Gromov said.

Earlier Putin said political foreign organizations should not be financed from abroad, but added he hoped that the NGOs draft law, now being discussed by the State Duma, would "not inflict any damage on Russia's civil society."

Gromov said speakers of both houses of parliament Sergei Mironov and Boris Gryzlov, presidential chief of staff Sergei Sobyanin, First Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, and others had attended the meeting.
