MOSCOW, December 1 (RIA Novosti) - All schools and kindergartens in Far-Eastern cities will be closed when the polluted water from China reaches the Amur River, the Russian Federal Service for the Oversight of Consumer Protection and Welfare said Thursday.

Hospitals in Khabarovsk, Komsomolsk-on-Amur and Amursk will render only emergency aid and restrict the regular reception of patients.

The emergency situations commission of the Khabarovsk Territory has no plans to cut sewerage systems.

According to the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry, the stretch of polluted water will reach Komsomolsk-on-Amur December 15-17 and may remain in the Amur for 15 days.

The pollution was the result of an explosion at a Chinese petrochemical plant November 13, which caused about 100 metric tons of benzene to be released into the Songhua River, an Amur tributary.
